Position: Bindery Operator I - 8HRS 3rd Shift

shift: 3rd shift, 11pm - 7am with a/b weekend ot rotating schedule shift differential: 3rd shift: $3

job summary

a bindery operator has general knowledge of inkjet operations and is responsible for operating and maintaining machinery that binds printed pages to create finished products such as catalogs and direct mailers.

essential duties and responsibilities
  • set up and perform all tasks and operate various bindery equipment like folders, cutters, collators, ink jets and glue applicators based on job instructions.
  • ensure the final product meets quality standards by accurately collating, cutting, folding, gluing, trimming, and assembling printed materials according to job specifications.
  • operate equipment within job parameters and to the highest efficiency possible.
  • monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal operation.
  • inspect printed materials throughout the binding process to identify any defects or inconsistencies.
  • read and interpret job tickets, ensuring adherence to sign‑off and continuity procedures.
  • load paper stock and set up machine parameters according to job specifications.
  • gather and collate printed pages as needed.
  • track job progress and report any delays or issues.
  • perform daily, weekly, and monthly total productive maintenance (tpm) tasks to maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • ensure compliance with nahan lean manufacturing principles.
  • follow all nahan safety & quality policy and procedures.
  • work assigned shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.
  • other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions.
  • attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.
  • ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications.
  • basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking.
  • ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • excellent time management skills and organizational skills.
  • proficiency/fluent with english language, both written and verbal.
