Job SummaryA Roll Tender sets up and operates all auxiliary equipment. Roll Tenders assist in manual and machine tasks in make‑ready, maintenance, and operation of heat set and non‑heat set presses to provide a quality product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Sets up and operates all auxiliary equipment.
- Maintains acceptable 'splice mode' efficiently.
- Assembles and feeds paper on a sheetfed press.
- Operates all web presses.
- Assists crew as needed in all positions.
- Trains toward Robot Technician/Pressman I and understands the Pressman II roles.
- Handles hazardous waste safely following safety procedures.
- Recognizes different paper substrates and their viscosity in relation to coating applications.
- Reads and understands job tickets.
- Helps with paper and inventory handling.
- Maintains a clean area around printing machinery.
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly TPM tasks to maintain optimal equipment performance.
- Ensures compliance with Nahan Lean manufacturing principles.
- Follows all Nahan quality and safety policies and procedures.
- Works assigned shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency/fluent in English language, written and verbal.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Post‑high school graphic arts training preferred.
- 1+ years of related experience preferred.

The role operates in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise. The employee must stand for long periods, use hands to reach or handle items, and handle work that includes lifting up to 70 lbs. The environment may expose employees to airborne particles, hazardous materials, fumes, and requires the use of PPE, hearing protection, and may involve extreme weather, confined spaces, and high work areas.
