Associate Technician

Technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a motivation to learn and grow professionally are essential. This role supports the production line operations across coating, finishing, and surfacing departments.

Coating:

• Clipper – clip and secure lenses into baskets to begin the coating process.
• Machine Operator – prepare and operate the coating machine, including loading chemicals and loading/unloading sectors with lenses.
• Inspector – inspect lenses to ensure they are optically and cosmetically accurate.

Finishing:

• Beveler – use the bevel wheel to remove the sharp edges of lenses.
• Mounter – insert edged lenses ensuring proper fit and alignment, and mount lenses into frames.
• Edger Operator – use a variety of edging machines to cut lenses to the appropriate size and shape.
• Finish Layout Preparer – prepare uncut lenses for the edging process by outlining center/alignment markings and affixing the chuck/block.
• Tinter – accurately tint all lenses.
• Inspector – check lenses and frames to ensure quality standards are met.

Surfacing:

• Surfacing Blocker – operate blocking machine to secure a block to all lenses and apply protective tape.
• Surface Finer/Polisher – operate equipment to fine and polish all lenses.
• Lens Washer – hand wash and dry lenses, perform a brief cosmetic inspection, remove block and tape using a de‑blocking cup.

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• High mechanical aptitude.
• 1+ years of related work experience in manufacturing; laboratory experience is preferred.
• Ability to meet measurable performance standards in a dynamic production environment; requires depth perception and manual dexterity.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities.
• Attention to detail.

• Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of any shift.
• Will work with and around chemicals.
• Work area may be wet, dirty, or have strong smells.
• Willing and able to work overtime as needed.
