Position Overview
An Assembler is responsible for production assembly. The work is highly repetitive and requires following a prescribed routine and clear steps. The operator runs machines to perform specific machining processes on molded plastic parts, places parts on machine fixtures, secures them with foot pedals or hand controls, and may deburr or gauge parts during machine cycles. Operators must select programs, change fixtures, run machines, and record process control data.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, using measurement tools, and operating equipment independently are essential skills.
- Work in a team environment and follow directions.
- Read work instructions and prepare container tickets (including part counts).
- Use hand tools, scales, and process equipment such as fixtures, assembly presses, and drill presses.
- Operates machinery, maintains tools, and follows safety procedures.
- May need to be ambidextrous for certain hand tools.
- Stand or sit for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs (assistance provided when necessary).
- Perform fine hand manipulation (pinching, pulling, grasping of parts of various sizes).
- Operate chemicals and other hazardous materials responsibly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Normal to high manual dexterity.
- Ability to use hand tools, machinery, and variable gauges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Ability to be trained and competent after reasonable, predetermined training.
The position is in a typical manufacturing area where personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, shoes/boots, and hearing protection are required. Conditions include hot temperatures, ergonomic hazards, burns, bruises, cuts, heavy lifting, fumes, slippery floors, machine hazards, chemicals, and gases. Protective measures include machine guards, ergonomic stretch programs, documented hazards, proper hand tools, and environmental training.
Pay Range & BenefitsPay: $18.00 – $21.57 per hour. Compensation varies by experience, skills, and location.
