Overview
Brief Description Driving growth at the intersection of molecular diagnostics and precision medicine. Microbiologics supports the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic testing worldwide. As molecular diagnostics and precision medicine continue to reshape healthcare, we are expanding our commercial team and seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth across the United States. This role focuses on identifying, shaping, and closing complex commercial opportunities across molecular diagnostics, genomics, and clinical laboratory markets.
We are specifically seeking candidates who have already led long-cycle, consultative sales efforts within life sciences or diagnostics environments.
- Own new revenue creation across US clinical diagnostics markets
- Lead complex, multi-stakeholder business development opportunities from strategy through close
- Build executive-level relationships with laboratory, biopharma, and life science customers
- Translate scientific and technical capabilities into scalable, commercially viable solutions
This role offers significant autonomy, visibility, and accountability for growth.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Business Development
- Develop and execute US-based business development strategies for molecular diagnostics, genomics, and precision medicine markets
- Identify, structure, and close complex opportunities including custom solutions, strategic partnerships, and contract manufacturing engagements
- Manage opportunities with long sales cycles and multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Account & Partnership Leadership
- Build and sustain executive-level relationships with key customers and partners
- Develop account-level and market-level growth plans to support long-term revenue expansion
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Clinical Sales, Marketing, R&D, Product Management, and Operations to advance opportunities
- Lead internal alignment to move opportunities from concept through commercialization
- Commercial Discipline
- Maintain accurate pipelines, forecasts, and reporting in CRM systems
- Provide market intelligence and voice-of-customer insights to inform strategy and investment decisions
- Customer & Industry Engagement
- Represent Microbiologics with customers, partners, and at industry events
- Travel up to 50% within the United States
This role is best suited for someone who:
- Has meaningful experience selling into molecular diagnostics, genomics, or precision medicine markets
- Has successfully navigated complex, consultative, long-cycle sales environments
- Is comfortable engaging scientific, operational, and executive stakeholders
- Can translate technical and clinical value into clear commercial outcomes
- Operates independently and is accountable for results
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (required); advanced degree preferred
- 7+ years of progressive experience in business development or strategic sales within life sciences or diagnostics
- Demonstrated success closing complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities
- Experience working with clinical laboratories, diagnostics companies, or life science organizations
- This role is designed for experienced business development professionals and is not intended for entry-level or early-career candidates.
