Security & Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and protecting hospital patients, employees, guests and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime, and detecting and detaining violators of the law.
• Respond to hospital emergency codes and perform frequent patrol of lots and clinics.
• Conduct routine rounding on aggressive or flagged patients or those at risk for security intervention.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Liaise with responding law enforcement agencies to orient them as necessary.

• Full‑time, 60–80 hours every 2 weeks.
• Night shift | 9:00 p‑7:30 a.
• Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (flex shifts).

• Minimum hourly rate of $25.51 per hour; exact rate determined by years of related experience.
• Pay range: $24.21–$36.35 per hour.
• Night Shift Differential of $3.00 per hour and Weekend Shift Differential of $1.05 per hour.
• $2,000 hiring bonus.

• Experience in security, policing, or training in law enforcement or private security preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to handle individuals or groups in a health‑care setting.
• Minimum training and certification up to the level of EMR preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and a driving record in good standing.
• Certification in use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, VISTELAR, and CEW (conducted energy weapon/Taser) required; experience with Taser within 6 months of hire required.
• Full set of fingerprints in accordance with Minnesota Statute 326.336 required.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.
