Hours worked are based on project needs (Spring and Fall are busiest)

Travel: 60%

Compensation: $35.10/hr upon successful completion of the initial training period.

This position is responsible for working on critical power systems across the U.S. in a role that combines TIG welding with hands‑on technical work—ideal for welders who take pride in their work, follow procedures, and are committed to continuous learning and improving every day.

This role requires long hours, changing schedules, and high expectations, often in tight industrial environments. You’ll need to follow procedures closely, communicate with your Foreman and crew members, and stay focused on safety and quality. Success in this role requires taking direction well, asking questions, and being open to feedback from experienced crew members.

Position Requirements

Due to the nature of EBI’s operations and its work with federal contracts and critical infrastructure, this position is considered safety sensitive under applicable state and federal guidelines.

Travel Requirements
  • Must have a REAL /or Passport to travel within the U.S. via airplane.
  • Extended overnight travel via airplane or vehicle is required for this role 60% of the calendar year.
  • Must be located 2 hours or less from a major international airport.
Day in the Life of a Traveling Electrical TIG Welder
  • 80% technician work (inspection, cleaning, maintenance of electrical bus duct systems)
  • Up to 20% TIG welding (varies by project – can range higher on certain jobs)
  • Perform horizontal and vertical aluminum pipe welding (¼"–1" thickness)
  • Work in tight spaces and industrial environments regularly
  • Inspect, clean, and refurbish bus duct systems (painting, silver plating, etc.)
  • Install bus duct systems (rigging, alignment, torquing)
  • Follow procedures, blueprints, and safety standards with precision
  • Maintain accurate job documentation and field logs
  • Keep a clean, organized job site and support crew productivity
  • Actively ask questions, seek guidance, and take direction from foremen/senior crew
  • Show up prepared, on time, and ready for safety briefings daily
  • Ability to take computer‑based tests for extended periods of time (mathematics, job specific tests, safety, etc.)
Emergency Response
  • Respond to power plant outages across the U.S.
  • Must be able to mobilize within 24 hours or less when called.
  • Emergency calls occur on average 6–8 times per year and are often time‑sensitive.
Schedule
  • Schedule varies by project and outage demands.
  • Expect extended workweeks (6/10s or 7/12s) during active projects.
  • Work may be day or night shift.
  • Travel assignments typically last 2–8 weeks, with some projects extending longer (3–6 months).
  • Hours worked are based on project needs (Spring and Fall are busiest).
Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience with TIG Aluminum or Stainless Steel.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and earn certifications.
  • Comfortable with overnight travel.
  • Certification of Welding from accredited school is preferred.
  • Comfortable with heights.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • OSHA 10 is required (may obtain prior to start date).
  • Ability to become certified in accordance with the company’s welding procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of raw materials, welding processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of goods.
  • Demonstrative ability to read and write processes.
  • Physical ability to independently lift, carry or maneuver up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively with customers, suppliers and employees.
  • Demonstrative ability to work in a cooperative and team‑oriented environment.
  • Demonstrative ability to use computers and shop reference manuals.
  • Demonstrative knowledge of blueprint reading.
