Field Service Apprentice

In this role, the Field Engineer Apprentice will observe and perform various equipment service processes and procedures to drive customer satisfaction and ensure proper functionality of less complex customer diagnostic imaging equipment. This remote apprenticeship requires the candidate to be available for on‑site work at customer locations in Minneapolis, MN, and surrounding areas. The program is one year long and prepares apprentices for a long‑term career in field service, with opportunities to transition into a full‑time internal position based on performance and business needs.

• Work within hospital radiology environments to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance on designated equipment.
• Perform safety and environmental inspections, ensuring compliance with Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
• Complete service and repair documentation following hospital protocol and GE Health Care policies and procedures.
• Maintain daily communication with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up, leading to customer satisfaction.
• Learn and ensure proper care of tools and test equipment, maintain calibration, and enhance technical knowledge of current standards regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
• Assist more experienced technicians with progressive repairs and act as a member of the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
• Complete all planned quality and compliance training within defined deadlines, identifying and reporting customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
• Be aware of and comply with the GE Health Care Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.

• AS, BS, MS degree, military education, certificate program, or current student with less than 12 months to completion; OR high school diploma/GED with 6 months experience servicing electronic, IT, or mechanical equipment.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship.

• Previous experience interpreting schematic diagrams and performing effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment.
• Analytical and communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to customers in an easy‑to‑understand manner.
• Ability to develop and maintain good customer relations.
• Experience interfacing with internal team members and external customers as part of a solution‑based service process.
• Knowledge of electronic digital circuitry and understanding of electronic and electro‑mechanical devices.
• Change agent and process oriented.

• Relocation beyond 30 miles from current location must be approved by the manager in advance.

• Successful completion of the apprenticeship and conversion to a full‑time internal position are based on performance, business need, and role availability.
• Candidates open to relocation may increase their chances of placement into a full‑time internal role.

• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 35 pounds unassisted and perform frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level; flex and extend neck; and demonstrate good hand and finger dexterity.
• Specific vision abilities may include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Must successfully complete GE Health Care background checks, post‑offer drug testing, ongoing customer access requirements, including required immunizations and additional drug tests/background checks.
