Job Title: Maintenance Technician II

Overview

The American Red Cross is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to perform repairs and maintenance on facilities, machinery, and equipment. This role requires practical knowledge of multiple trades and the ability to inspect and address facility and equipment needs to prevent breakdowns. The position may involve work in carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, welding, and related trades. A focus on safety, adherence to procedures, and coordinating with volunteers is essential.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair the organization’s facilities and properties, including patching holes, repairing concrete floors, painting, and addressing minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies. Install, operate, and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps, and related mechanical equipment.

Move and store furniture and equipment as needed.

Estimate time and material costs for projects and requisition supplies and equipment.

Plant and maintain landscaping (flowerbeds, shrubs, trees) and manage grounds (snow removal, cleaning walkways) as appropriate.

Drive company vehicles to other locations as required.

Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A trade license may be required.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant skills include painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Skills & Abilities: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Proficiency in basic computer skills is desirable. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work well in a team. May have on-call duties.

Travel: Will drive to other locations as needed.

Physical Requirements: Regularly lift and move objects up to 50 lbs; may lift more with assistance or equipment. Able to use hand and power tools and work with various chemicals and solvents. May climb ladders and work in varying conditions. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
