Salary Range: $29.25 - $42.94 hourly; $61,074 - $89,658 annual
Job SummaryThis position responds to the spiritual/religious needs of offenders and coordinates and provides religious services. The role supervises volunteers, provides counseling, and delivers worship services to incarcerated individuals.
Job Duties- Assist with coordination of all facility religious programming.
- Obtain religious resources and supervise volunteers who provide services to incarcerated individuals.
- Meet with and respond to requests from incarcerated individuals.
- Counsel individual offenders and identify religious volunteers for crisis counseling.
Education and Experience
- Option 1:
Master of Divinity degree or related degree from a graduate school accredited by the Association of Theological Schools plus completion of at least four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). - Option 2:
Bachelor’s degree in Theology or related field plus two years of independent pastoral care and counseling in a parish or specialized ministry setting and at least four (4) units of CPE.
Other Requirements
- Review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA); may be required to complete a tuberculosis screening.
- Pass a criminal history check meeting all sentencing/restitution requirements, and other background checks per Department of Corrections policy.
- New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no E‑Verify participation or work visa sponsorship.
- Credentials to lead worship services in your faith tradition.
- Knowledge of multiple religious traditions and ability to coordinate representative services for the offender population.
- Exceptional human relations skills to provide pastoral care and counseling in a confidential setting.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to inform and recruit volunteers and provide training on offender religious practices.
- Coordination skills to organize and staff facility religious/spiritual services and manage donations.
- Basic computer and written communication skills for developing periodic reports.
- Ability to respond effectively to crisis situations and urgent spiritual needs.
The selected finalist must review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis and may be required to complete a tuberculosis screening.
