Job Description:
The Training & Outreach Manager (TOM) is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating customized training programs for a diverse range of clients, including businesses, government agencies, professional associations, non‑profit organizations, workforce centers, and individual learners. Training programs may focus on areas such as health and human services, manufacturing, skilled trades, business operations, or professional development.
Salary Range: $30.23 - $53.58 per hour.
Key Responsibilities- Achieve sales revenue goals established in the Customized Training department’s annual budget.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by managing engagement throughout the training lifecycle, from initial consultation to successful contract fulfillment.
- Oversee all operational processes related to training delivery to ensure high‑quality execution and client satisfaction.
- Support program development by identifying industry and client needs and coordinating appropriate training solutions.
- Recruit and collaborate with qualified instructors to deliver effective and relevant training programs.
- 5 or more years of experience in health and human services, manufacturing, skilled trades, business, sales, or training.
- Associate’s degree in a related field could be substituted for six months of experience; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is 12 months.
- Valid Class D driver’s license and ability to travel statewide as required.
- Strong customer relationship development skills with the ability to motivate and drive operational outcomes, paired with excellent verbal and written communication and strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of business operations to assess and determine client needs.
- Experience in managing multiple complex projects with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and to perform in a team environment as needed.
- Ability to adhere to state, system, and college policies and procedures.
- Results‑oriented and client‑focused.
- Degree in a related field.
- Experience in sales or revenue‑generating endeavors with an emphasis on developing a customer base.
- Knowledge of adult learning concepts and practices, and ability to develop training programs to meet identified objectives.
- Established network of industry contacts, including potential clients, instructors/trainers, and business or community partners for training and continuing education projects.
- Experience using a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
- Experience managing or supporting grant‑funded programs, including application development, compliance, reporting, and coordination with funding agencies and employers; process improvement and project management skills and experience.
- Bilingual/multilingual in Spanish, Somali, French, Hmong, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.
- Conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check if driving a rental or state vehicle on college/university business.
- Background check may include criminal background, employment record review, employment reference check, conflict of interest review.
- Not eligible for H‑1B sponsorship.
Monday through Friday schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility. Employees should be flexible, adaptable, willing to adjust hours when needed, and maintain reliability within a primarily daytime schedule. May be eligible for some telework with supervisor approval.
