This position exists to promote change in incarcerated people to ensure successful reentry to the community while enhancing public safety. Provide transformational services, supervision, assessment, effective interventions, case planning, and release planning for a caseload of the incarcerated population. Develop skills with assistance from Corrections Security Caseworker-Careers (CSCC) using team mentoring, consultation, participating in peer learning opportunities and skills development sessions.
This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
- Two (2) years of experience working with clients from a diverse background in the fields of corrections, social work, social services, education, chemical dependency, mental health, residential treatment, or related field.
* Completion of a Master's degree may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience, Bachelor's degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience, or Associates degree may substitute for six (6) months of experience.
Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be further assessed on the following:
- Human relations and conflict management skills sufficient to maintain effective working relationships and collaboration with incarcerated individuals, co-workers, government officials, social service providers, families, and other stakeholders.
- Oral and written communication skills sufficient to prepare and present reports, explain and describe the applicability of complex policy and statute to stakeholders, and make recommendations to stakeholders.
- Organizational skills sufficient to manage a caseload, prioritize a wide variety of issues, and manage many crucial details in a constantly changing legal and procedural environment.
- Skills in using computer database and software programs sufficient to collect and enter data in case records.
- Knowledge of correctional evidence-based practices (EBP) such as cognitive-behavioral programming, risk and needs assessments, motivational interviewing, and person-centered principles.
