Job Details

$7,500 sign on bonus – Terms apply: any person who has worked for a PFG company within the last 6 months is not eligible. The position is for CDL A Drivers based out of Rice, MN. Dispatch is early morning, four to five days per week (Monday–Saturday). May include multiple night layovers, with company‑paid hotel accommodations and a food stipend. No Sunday work required.

Minimum $320/day plus component pay. Average annual earnings: $90,000/year.

Position Purpose

This is an entry level driver training role. The driver learns to gain experience driving a tractor‑trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over‑the‑road (OTR), shuttle, and/or overnight routes to deliver and unload various food and food‑related products to customers. All routes are completed safely in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations. The driver communicates professionally with customers, vendors, and co‑workers to ensure all services and duties are executed in accordance with preferred work methods and customer service practices.

Functions as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities
  • Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program as required. Maintain all training documentation.
  • Ride‑with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries as required.
  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies, and report any safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight after counting items and checking customer invoices.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders per predetermined route schedule.
  • Unload products, transport items into designated customer storage areas, scan and contact supervisor about any issues, verify delivery with customer signatures, collect payments, and secure trailer doors.
  • Lock and secure tractor, trailer, and freight at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter log per Federal, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock, and clear trailers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or state‑approved equivalent
  • Valid CDL A
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years
  • Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure new one
  • Ability to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–35 pounds up to 60–90 pounds.
