Position OverviewThe Construction Superintendent will work within the Operations Department and report directly to the Chief Operations Officer. This role is primarily field-based and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and successful execution of commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage commercial construction projects and serve as the primary on-site point of contact.
- Provide full site supervision; some physical labor and material handling may be required.
Spend the majority of time in the field on active project sites. - Operate and run construction projects in collaboration with a Project Manager.
- Communicate with and direct subcontractors, verify accuracy of work, and forecast and schedule upcoming trades.
- Coordinate distribution of plans, instructions, and project documentation to subcontractors as work progresses.
- Utilize basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and email communication.
- Use Autodesk software for internal and external communication.
- Attend and lead internal job flow, check set, pre-construction, safety, and punch list meetings as required.
- Supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to ensure work complies with plans, specifications, schedules, codes, and applicable laws.
- Enforce project safety and security standards, ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and maintaining clean, organized job sites.
- Assist with writing and processing change orders in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Attend and conduct site walkthroughs with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
- Schedule required inspections and correct any items not in compliance with building codes, plans, or specifications.
- Participate in continuing education related to construction management, safety, and material handling.
- Ensure correct and up-to-date plans and specifications are used on site.
- Evaluate subcontractors for upcoming work and assist in identifying new subcontractor partners.
- Demonstrate company core values, ethical standards, policies, and procedures both internally and externally.
- Maintain a positive attitude, enthusiasm for the work, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
- This position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and typically averages approximately 45 hours per week throughout the year. Evening and occasional weekend hours may be required depending on workload and project schedules. Typical working hours are 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility based on project demands and time of year.
