Job Description & How to Apply Below
A well-established contract manufacturing business is hiring a Sales Estimator to support quoting activity across rotary die-cutting, flatbed die-cutting, laser converting, and assembly/packaging. You’ll build accurate, competitive estimates from RFQs and specifications, partnering closely with engineering, operations, and sales to ensure quotes reflect real-world manufacturing capability.
What you’ll do- Produce detailed cost estimates for custom converted and assembled components from drawings/specs/RFQs
- Create basic web paths for rotary die-cutting and web converting, including multi-layer lamination and part-removal steps
- Review part geometry and production requirements to recommend tooling/process strategies
- Estimate feed rates, machine speeds, changeovers, yields, and efficiencies to calculate per-part costs
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and purchasing to validate assumptions and manufacturability
- Use ERP/quoting tools to document estimates and maintain job records
- Source and estimate materials (films, adhesives, liners, tapes, other converting materials) to spec
- Support sales by explaining cost drivers and proposing alternates (materials/design/process) where useful
- Keep up to date with converting materials, processes, and new technology
- 3+ years in estimating or process engineering within contract manufacturing or converting
- Strong understanding of rotary die-cutting, laminating, slitting, part-removal, and assembly processes
- Working knowledge of converting materials (films, pressure-sensitive adhesives, release liners, specialty papers)
- Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP/MRP and/or quoting systems
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications
- Clear communicator with solid commercial judgement and stakeholder coordination skills
- Lean / continuous improvement exposure and structured cost-model approaches
- CAD or 2D layout experience for visualising web paths
- Experience with medical/OEM style requirements (tight tolerances, documentation, traceability)
This is a hands-on manufacturing environment with a strong safety culture—team members are expected to raise concerns, support problem-solving, and contribute to continuous improvement.
