Job Overview
Position: Medical Assistant / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Pediatrics Clinic, Lakeshore St. Francis Layton.
Location: 2000
E. Layton Ave., St.Francis (Pediatric clinic within Aurora Health Center).
Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm with flexibility;
Thursday 10:00am – 6:30pm as clinic needs change.
Pay Range: $21.85 – $36.15 per hour. Actual compensation: $21.85–$27.30 for Medical Assistants; $24.10–$30.10 for Licensed Practical Nurses.
Responsibilities- Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
- Perform lab‑related tasks including specimen collection and point‑of‑care testing.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high‑quality, coordinated care.
- Licensure or certification required:
- Medical Assistant (MA):
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 45 days unless otherwise determined. - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
Valid state LPN license and BLS certification obtained within 45 days unless otherwise determined. - Education:
- GED or high‑school equivalency diploma for all candidates.
- MA:
Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or at least 2 years of verifiable full‑time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years. - LPN:
Completion of an accredited or approved Practical Nursing program and advanced training beyond high school. - Experience and skills:
- Ability to perform routine clinical tasks, assist with procedures, and document accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds and perform patient transfers with a second person.
- Physical strength and stamina to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, and fine hand‑manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently.
- Must lift and support the weight of 35 pounds.
- Must push/pull with 30lb of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150lb with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures.
- Must maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease; must wear protective clothing and equipment as necessary.
- Must respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions.
- Physical ability testing may be required.
