Position: WS Front Desk Specialist I (part-time)
Location: St. George

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment. New employees must provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of their start date.

Job Summary

This position serves as the initial contact for all guests to Academic Advising. Perform receptionist duties in a cheerful, professional, and enthusiastic manner. Assist with crowd management during the months with the highest intake of students.

This is a part-time position which provides front desk coverage during regular business hours Monday – Thursday 8am – 6pm and Friday 8am – 4:30pm. Work location and hours may be adjusted depending on the needs of the department.

This is a Federal Work Study position. Applicants must be approved through Financial Aid in order to be considered for this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Provide a warm and welcoming environment to all incoming students and guests of the Academic Advising office.
  • Assist students, both in person and over the phone, in scheduling appointments to see their advisors.
  • Effectively manage and triage students and redirect them to other services as needed.
  • Proactively notify advisors of demand of services and refer students to campus resources.
  • Access the A-Z index on the college website as well as the Advising website for information to provide students with quick answers to frequently asked questions.
  • Flexibility with work hours during RUSH and for sick, vacation, or other coverage is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School graduate or GED and one year of customer service work experience in an office setting.
  • Current SLCC student.
  • Applicants must be approved through the Financial Aid Federal Work-Study Program.
  • This position is subject to a successful completion of a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working as a receptionist in higher education.
