Overview
The Director of Operations for GRID Structured Cabling at Summit Technology oversees the company’s structured cabling and low‑voltage business. This onsite role in downtown Salt Lake City involves driving process, structure, and discipline across quoting, scheduling, execution, and measurement to support rapid, scalable growth. The position also involves capturing the knowledge of a retiring veteran operations leader, bridging field expertise with operational systems, and gradually owning the entire vertical.
Key Responsibilities- Implement process and discipline for structured cabling work across quoting, scheduling, execution, and measurement.
- Build robust time‑, material‑, and change‑order tracking to capture every billable hour and cost.
- Improve estimating and quoting accuracy so scope, cost, and margin are correct before a job starts.
- Integrate operational systems (project tracking, CRM, accounting) to eliminate duplicate data entry and ensure information reliability.
- Own scheduling for structured cabling projects, coordinating crews, materials, and timelines before work begins.
- Gradually assume control of all structured cabling projects and ultimately the entire vertical.
- Document and institutionalize the operational knowledge of a retiring veteran to preserve and standardize best practices.
• 10+ years of operations experience, including leading a team, division, or own company.
• Background in ISP, telecom, structured cabling, low‑voltage, managed services, or construction‑services environments.
• Hands‑on ownership of multi‑site project delivery: scheduling, dispatch, field coordination, and quality control.
• Proven track record of building processes and systems from scratch with data‑driven project estimation.
• Working familiarity with fiber, structured cabling, point‑to‑point and point‑to‑multipoint wireless, network management, VoIP, video surveillance, and access control.
• Ability to hold technical standards and assess work quality.
• Comfort owning numbers: time tracking, materials, change orders, billing accuracy, and financial health.
• Authorised to work in the United States (Soliciting visas not sponsored).
• Valid driver’s license and based onsite in Salt Lake City.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to active project sites across the western states.
