Job Summary
Under the direction of Project Management, the Superintendent assists in overseeing the field operations of large-scale commercial construction projects. Ensures that all work, whether self-performed or subcontracted trade, complies with contract documents and the specified project schedule. Must be able to find solutions to both routine and complex construction problems and continue to push the project forward.
Duties/Responsibilities- May assist in the training, coaching, and mentoring of other project staff.
- Considered a Subject Matter Expert in one or more fields of expertise.
- Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating to and via project foreperson to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
- Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
- Collaborates with architect, engineer, attorney, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure specifications, zoning requirements, and other regulations are met.
- Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
- Obtains required permits and licenses; executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
- Monitors budget throughout the project and communicates variances as they occur.
- Maintains records related to costs and inventory.
- Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
- Strong computer literacy with demonstrated ability to learn and navigate various project software.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
- Effective communication skills, including presentation and people skills.
- Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.
- Willingness to travel to out-of-town projects.
- OSHA 30 certification
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field Preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar or related role.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
