Pay: $21.00‑$22.00 an hour.

Asphalt Laborers perform a variety of construction tasks to support highway, utility, and grade crews or on‑site plant locations. Work is conducted under a supervisor’s instruction with limited direct supervision for routine duties.

• Effectively distribute asphaltic material by raking and shoveling.
• Match and finish freshly made asphalt joints evenly.
• Level and adjust surface irregularities, restore surface finish, spread asphalt to proper grade and finish before compaction.
• Move, deliver, and load tools, equipment, and materials on the job site.
• Operate equipment and assist with maintenance and cleaning of machinery.
• Take on additional duties such as operating power tools and providing utility support.
• Maintain safe work practices and comply with company policies and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain flexible attendance in a variable schedule.
• Travel and work at multiple construction sites within the region.
• Interact professionally with teammates, contractors, and the public.

• Use hand and power tools for various tasks.
• Pick up or deliver construction materials at job site locations.
• Perform site cleanup and flagging or traffic control as necessary.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe and clean condition.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following educational, experiential, and skill requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior construction experience is a plus.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Read and comprehend instructions and written materials.
• Write clear correspondences and memos.
• Perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with fractions and decimals.
• Use inventory and order processing systems; operate ticketing software and two‑way radio.
• Pass drug and physical agility testing if required.

• Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs. regularly.
• Operate shovel or rake for extended periods; handle 10‑30 lbs. regularly.
• Perform stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
• Climb equipment frequently, using hand and foot holds.
• Operate equipment controls, levers, switches, or steering wheel.
• Perform flagging, vibratory tamping, or other miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Work may expose the employee to wet, humid, cold, heat, or loud noise conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outdoor weather. Proper safety practices and protective gear are mandatory.
