Requisition
What You Will Be Doing- Physically performs field-required tests and inspections
- Prepares daily reports, item entries, and documents test results; attends progress meetings with the contractor, owner, and project engineer
- Assures the quality of the contractor s work
- Maintains daily logs of inspections and reviews any discrepancies with the proper parties
- Operates a company vehicle as required; maintains an acceptable driving record
- 2 to 5 years of construction-related experience in a field applicable to the work assignment, with emphasis on roadway and bridge construction and inspection preferred
- Good communication and documentation skills (Word, Excel, internet-based document management); ability to perform with minimal supervision
- General knowledge of construction techniques and the ability to read plans and specifications
- Knowledge or experience with UDOT and/or other municipal government construction management procedures preferred
- Ability to disseminate learned knowledge to other Construction Observers and Material Testing Technicians
- WAQTC, ACI, UDOT IQP, a plus; willingness to add certifications as needed
Entails manual labor, including lifting and transporting up to 50 lbs. Ability to work at and maneuver around construction sites in various weather conditions; must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and trenches. Height or confined spaces may pose challenges.
OtherThis position may require out-of-town work; per diem and housing arrangements will be provided. Work hours vary week to week to align with the on-site general contractor schedule. May involve proximity to a nuclear density gauge and operation of this equipment if required by the company.
