Position Announcement
Assist students who are pursuing Education program pre-requisites, as well as major, minor, and/or degree of study requirements. The College of Education includes programs in Education (Elementary Education and Secondary Education), Family Studies & Human Development (including Early Childhood Education), and Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
Responsibilities- Advise students in general education, program and graduation requirements.
- Advise students with College of Education pre-requisite coursework planning as well as degree attainment planning once admitted to a College of Education program in either Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and/or Early Childhood Education.
- Meet with students for advisement, registration, and graduation planning.
- Assist with advisement/recruitment/orientation sessions.
- Cross-train with other College of Education advisors to ensure understanding about all programs offered within the College to provide additional support as needed.
- Assist with the commencement and convocation programs.
- Refer students to other offices and resources for assistance, such as Financial Aid, Accessibility and Disability Center, TRiO Program, Booth Wellness Center, Community Outreach programs, etc.
- Participate in retention initiatives under the direction of Academic Advisement and the College of Education.
- Attend professional development opportunities for advisement and serve on various university committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field required;
Master's Degree preferred. - Two years advising or related experience required; higher education advisement experience preferred.
- Proficient computer skills; willingness to learn new systems.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to exercise critical human relation skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with university stakeholders.
- Familiarity with college admissions guidelines, standards, and procedures, and higher education admissions counseling in general.
- Familiarity with Utah Tech University (UT) programs and offerings preferred.
- Background must show ability to positively relate to multi-cultural students, first generation students, non-traditional students, and students in transition.
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $44,500 for Bachelor's degree-qualified candidate and $47,750 for Master's degree-qualified candidates. Desired start of April 2026. Excellent benefits package included that begins on start date; includes medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, employee assistance and wellness programs, retirement plan contributions, and undergraduate tuition waivers for employees and eligible dependents, as well as paid holidays in addition to sick and vacation leave accruals.
