Position Announcement
The UT Elevated Success Coach is a five-year, grant-funded position supported by the Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID) initiative, UT Elevated. The position provides individualized, person-centered coaching and mentoring to students with intellectual disabilities enrolled at Utah Tech University. As a member of an interdisciplinary support team, the Success Coach promotes student access, engagement, persistence, and successful outcomes across academics, employment, independent living, and campus involvement.
The role collaborates closely with academic advising, faculty, the Accessibility and Disability Center, Career Services, and campus and community partners to ensure coordinated, holistic support aligned with TPSID requirements and UT Elevated program goals. This position reports to Student Affairs.
* This is a grant funded position with guaranteed funding through 9/30/30, and is dependent on funding after that.
- Provide success coaching using person-centered, strength-based practices aligned with TPSID guidelines.
- Support the development of self-advocacy, executive functioning, time management, and independent learning skills through coordinated campus and community support.
- Conduct regular check-ins to monitor academic, social, and personal progress toward individualized goals.
- Assist students in navigating campus systems, resources, and expectations to promote independence and engagement.
- Support career exploration, employment skill development, and transition planning in collaboration with campus and community partners.
- Coordinate with Career Services, community resources, and program partners to support internships, work-based learning, and employment, including resume development, interview preparation, and workplace readiness.
- Assist students with identifying, scheduling, and accessing academic tutoring, learning support, and life skills resources.
- Coordinate services across campus and community partners to ensure continuity of support and reduce barriers to participation.
- Serve as a liaison between students, families when appropriate, faculty, and campus partners while promoting student autonomy.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case management, and program planning activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support data collection, assessment, and TPSID reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with TPSID requirements, institutional policies, FERPA, and higher education best practices.
- Support UT Elevated orientation, outreach, student engagement, and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required; master's degree preferred.
- Two years of advising, counseling, coaching or related experience in Special Education, K-12, or higher education environment required.
- Proficient computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Candidates should have experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (/DD) or with ADA accommodations and policies.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to, respect for, and understanding of the academic, personal, and social needs of all students required.
- Ability to take initiative and develop programs and curriculum for students and staff.
- Knowledge of principles and practices related to counseling, academic advisement or career exploration preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and conflict resolution expertise.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $48,000+ depending on experience. Desired start date of March/April 2026.
