Position: Secondary Teacher - Science Endorsement w/ Special Ed Preferred
POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

You Teach Science to At-Risk Students ages 12-17!

You Help Change Lives!

Your Teaching includes:

Developing a learning rapport with Students.
Motivating Students to learn and grow.
Helping Students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Creating lesson plans based on core curriculum approved by the State of Utah.
Helping Students develop attitudes and knowledge that help them reach their potential.

Your Teaching Doesn't Include:

Managing Student Behaviors.
Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Coaching After-School Sports.
Advising After-School Clubs.
Supervising Night or Weekend Activities, Such as Dances.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A State of Utah Professional Educator's License, or the ability to rapidly obtain a teaching license in the State of Utah.
A Science Endorsement.
Teach Integrated Science 6, 7 8, Biology, Chemistry and Physics (Outlined in Utah State Board of Education Core Curriculum adopted by the Utah State Board of Education).
Utilize Cinnamon Hills' instructional framework to provide engaging instruction based on core standards.
Create Lesson Plans based on the Core Curriculum.
Assist in in academic testing and provides tutoring, when time allows.
Develop measurable math goals, evaluate student academic and social growth, maintain Student records, and prepare progress reports quarterly.
Instruct Students in good citizenship.
Be a positive role model.
Participate in faculty meetings and instructional professional learning communities.
Use effective, engaging teaching strategies.
Maintain professional expertise through in-service education and self-selected professional growth activities.
Meet regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance requirements.
Effective problem solving, organizational skills, and time management skills.
Be a good team player, as well as work independently with little instruction.
Reliable attendance.
Prepares for and attends IEP meetings, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor Degree.
A current State of Utah Teaching Educator's License or the ability to become licensed in the State of Utah.
A Science Endorsement, or the ability to get a Science Endorsement.
If a teaching position outside of endorsement is sought, approval must be granted by the Utah State Office of Education, and efforts to seek the required endorsement must be pursued assertively.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Teaching experience beyond student teaching is preferred, but not mandatory!
Experience working with at-risk youth is also preferred, but not mandatory!

PURPOSE:

To provide a positive atmosphere where students may gain a high school education, acquire new talents to become lifelong learners, develop skills necessary to live independently, and become positive contributors to society.
