Job Summary

Welcome to the SLCC Community! The Interior Design adjunct faculty member will work with full‑time faculty, under the general supervision of the Associate Dean, in program and class‑related duties such as classroom (including online) instruction, content design and delivery, and student evaluation.

This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.

This position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit.

Adjunct positions are offered on a semester‑by‑semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teaches one or more Interior Design classes.
  • Utilizes an e‑portfolio for the project.
  • Follows the course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures, and guides classroom activities.
  • Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with priority given to those that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.
  • Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
  • Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
  • Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
  • Conducts appropriate evaluations of student performance.
  • Informs students of progress‑to‑date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  • Prepares and submits incident reports to the Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
  • Maintains professional and collegial behavior.
  • Handles and responds to student concerns and complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1–2 days).
  • Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.
  • Completes all required employee training.
  • Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines.
  • Provides ADA accommodations as requested.
  • Other job‑related duties as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with a broad range of diverse people to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Works with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background, including those with disabilities.

All Faculty will maintain an on‑site campus presence unless approved for online‑only courses.

Employment is on a contract‑to‑contract basis with no future expectation or obligation; employment may be terminated at will at any time.

All employees must maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate Degree with 2 or more years professional industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Prior teaching experience.
