Course Description

In this course students will learn the basics of research and project design. Students will learn how to conduct a literature review, construct a research questions and hypotheses, conduct case study analysis from both primary and secondary data. As the course is a gateway to working on client projects in the second semester as part of GLA
2000H Capstone Seminar, students will learn how to work with clients, how to work in teams, presentation skills, memo and report writing.

Salary
  • Sessional Lecturer I – $19,994.95 ($9,997.48 per section)
  • Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term – $21,398.43 ($10,699.22 per section)
  • Sessional Lecturer II – $21,398.43 ($10,699.22 per section)
  • Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term – $21,907.92 ($10,953.96 per section)
  • Sessional Lecturer III – $21,907.92 ($10,953.96 per section)
  • Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term – $22,457.80 ($11,228.90 per section)

All inclusive of vacation pay. Rates stipulated in the collective agreement prevail over rates stated in the posting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Political Science.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience in this field.
Description of Duties
  • Developing the syllabus.
  • Teaching two 2-hour lectures per week at the graduate level.
  • Providing weekly office hours for academic counseling of students.
  • Preparing and delivering course material, assignments and tests.
  • Marking student work and submitting grades.
