Planning Time Instructional Technician
Lane 2 – $17.81 per hour, 4.67 hours per day, 4 days per week, Tuesday-Friday, 177 days per year. Must be at least 18 years of age or older to apply. There are no benefits with this position. This position will include an additional 0.5 hours per day of Student Supervision, paid at Lane 1, $17.35 per hour. Monday 1 hour, Tuesday-Friday 0.5 hour per day.
The total hours worked per week will be 18.68 hours per week.
Placement on the salary schedule will be reviewed by a supervisor and finalized through the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. Candidates already employed with Nebo School District, applying for a new position with a lane increase, may decrease in overall steps in the new position if offered, accepted, and not in the same job category.
Requirements- Job-related experience is desired.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
The job of Instructional Technician – Planning Time is done for the purpose of improving students' success in the basic core skills (e.g., music, computers, art, physical education, etc.) and to assist students by instructing and modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments.
Essential Functions- Adapts classroom materials under the direction of the teacher (e.g., music, art, computers, physical education, etc.) for the purpose of providing a method to support and/or reinforce classroom objectives.
- Confers with teachers and other school personnel to assist students' progress and/or implement students' objectives.
- Evaluates students to determine the need for further individualized assessment and instruction.
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g., music, art, computers, physical education, etc.) to assist the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
- Maintains classroom equipment and work area students' files/records (e.g., clean up after various class projects, instructional materials, etc.) to ensure availability and reliable information.
- Monitors individuals and/or groups of students in various situations to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in in‑service workshops and training to receive and/or convey information related to job functions.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Prepares core subject–specific lessons appropriate for individuals or small groups (e.g., music, art, computers, physical education, etc.) to implement goals that facilitate learning.
- Provides direct instructional services to individuals, small groups, or entire classes of students under the supervision of the assigned classroom teacher to implement goals for the promotion of student success.
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel.
- Responds to inquiries to solve problems, provide information, and/or referral.
Minimum Qualifications
- Skills – Performing single, technical tasks with the potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions; adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including computers and applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge – Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios), reading manuals, writing documents in prescribed formats, presenting information, understanding complex written and oral instructions; concepts of grammar and punctuation; age‑appropriate activities; health and safety standards and student behavior strategies.
- Ability – Scheduling activities and/or meetings; gathering and collating data; using job‑related equipment; flexibility to work with others; interpreting data independently; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; adapting to changing priorities; working with frequent interruptions; working positively with students who have behavioral challenges; regular reliable attendance.
Working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required. Opportunity to impact organization’s services.
Working EnvironmentPhysical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. General job requires 20% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing. Environment is hazard‑free.
