Course number and title: CTL
7013H – Arts in Education (Visual Arts)

Course description: An introduction to research‑informed teaching and professional learning in Visual Arts Education for students in grades 4 to 10. The course explores Ministry curriculum, lesson design and planning, pedagogy, assessment and evaluation, and research in light of contemporary educational theory and practice. This course is open only to students in the Master of Teaching program.

Class schedule: Tuesday 09:00 – 12:00

Sessional dates of appointment:  –

Appointment percentage: 33.33%

Salary: $9,972.48 per half‑credit course (inclusive of vacation pay). Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated currency and mastery in the course subject matter.
  • Excellence in teaching, including online teaching where applicable.
  • Evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher‑candidates' professional learning.
  • Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications

None.

Description of Duties
  • Prepare, organize, and teach the graduate course.
  • Be available to students seeking assistance between classes.
  • Evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.
  • Attend the pre‑course planning/preparation meeting with the instructional team.
  • Attend MT All‑Instructor Meetings (AIM) and submit the course syllabus as requested by the department.
