Elementary Planning/PLC Assistant (Job )

Job SummaryThis position requires a dependable, student-friendly and patient individual to work with K‑5th grade students in a classroom setting under the direction of the building principal and leadership team. The role provides classroom instruction for students in grades K‑5, working with the building administrator to offer positive learning experiences and monitor student engagement. Physical presence and attendance are essential.
Essential Functions- Teach students skills to overcome barriers, fostering cooperative attitudes and building self‑esteem.
- Monitor student participation to ensure learning and development.
- Follow district policy for attendance.
- Communicate within the workplace as needed.
- Implement mini‑lesson plans for classroom settings.
- Form partnerships with students, teachers, and staff regarding progress, goals, concerns, and accomplishments.
- Engage children with enthusiasm, variety, and novelty throughout the day.
- Attend required professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behavior management, job coaching, and monitoring.
- Complete reports, including daily records of student progress related to mini lessons presented during Planning or PLC time.
- Work under the direction of the building administrator(s).
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- (Highly qualified if in a Title 1 school)
- No prior experience required.
- Maintain a safe learning environment using best‑practice classroom management skills.
- Monitor student engagement levels during mini‑lessons.
- Basic reading, writing, math, organization, record‑keeping, and computer skills.
- Collaborate and share responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Display patience and positivity.
- Make decisions on the best way to accomplish tasks assigned by the building administrator and leadership team.
- Take directions well and work within specific guidelines.
- Offer suggestions while following directions.
- Prioritize safety for self and others.
- Interact positively with students, parents, staff, teachers, administration, and other district personnel.

- Work setting is mainly in the classroom.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- May be exposed to bodily fluids.
- May be required to work inside or outside the building under various weather conditions.
- May experience stress from disruptive students and/or groups.
- Must speak and/or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, reach, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must stand or sit for long periods.
- Must lift or move up to 50 lbs.
