Job Summary / Basic Function
This position offers three levels of certification, reflecting the depth of training the tutor receives. Each level comes with a rate increase.
- Level 1 focuses on training tutors in the basics of being a tutor.
- Level 2 is contingent on Level 1 training certification and focuses on metacognitive and psychosocial requirements for tutoring.
- Level 3 is contingent on Level 1 and 2 training certifications and focuses on a more holistic view of learning center management and student development theories.
- Level 3 tutors are eligible for the Lead Tutor role, which carries increased pay and responsibilities. The Lead Tutor provides direct tutoring support while assisting the Tutoring Coordinator with center management, staff mentorship, and tutoring training implementation.
Tutor WSU students in Health Sciences at the Ogden Learning Center on an individual appointment and/or drop‑in basis. Appointment availability is determined by the tutor. Training in tutoring techniques is required and provided. Hours may include service outside the center as a Learning Assistant.

Hourly Pay Rate: $14.50
Qualifications- Must be a WSU student.
- Must have earned a B or better in the courses you propose to tutor.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the subject matter you will tutor.
- Good listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
- Must participate in completing Levels I & II of tutor CRLA training.
- Ability to tutor many different courses.
