These courses investigate approaches to music learning, teaching, and assessment through vocal and instrumental performance, conducting, listening, analysis and creative problem‑solving; and personal experience with music and technology and media arts. Candidates will develop a repertoire of diverse teaching and assessment strategies appropriate for Ontario students in grades 7‑10. Current music education philosophies, Ministry of Education and Training policy and best practices from the field will be the basis for the design of curriculum lessons and units.
A practitioner research stance is the basis for all assignments. Assignments involve practical applications of methodology and frequent personal reflections on music teaching. This course is one of a pairing of courses to be taught by the same instructor. As such, one instructor will be hired to teach this course in pairing with CTL

- Salary:
Minimum stipend $9,972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half‑credit course, prorated for the appointment percentage.
- Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Currency and mastery in the course subject matter.
- Excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant.
- Evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher‑candidates professional learning.
- Both instrumental and vocal skills.
- Curriculum studies, pedagogies, and assessment through a broad range of music‑making media and styles.
- K‑12 Ontario classroom experience.
- Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare, organize, and teach the graduate course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes.
- Evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.
- Attend a pre‑course planning/preparation meeting with the course instructional team.
- Attend MT All‑Instructor Meetings (AIM) and submit course syllabus as requested by the department.
