An introduction to research-informed teaching and professional learning in Visual Arts Education for students in grades 4 to 10. The course explores Ministry curriculum, lesson design and planning, pedagogy, assessment and evaluation, and research in light of contemporary educational theory and practice. This course is open only to students in the Master of Teaching program.

SalaryAs of September 1, 2026, the minimum stipend is $9,972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. As of January 1, 2027, the minimum stipend is $9,972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.
Minimum Qualifications- Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated currency and mastery in the course subject matter.
- Excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant.
- Evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher‑candidates’ professional learning.
- Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset.

Description of duties- Prepare, organize, and teach this graduate course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes.
- Evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.
- Attend a pre‑course planning/preparation meeting with the course instructional team, attend MT All‑Instructor Meetings (AIM) and submit course syllabus as requested by the department.
