Sessional Lecturer – CTL
7013H – Arts in Education (Music)

An introduction to research‑informed teaching and professional learning in Music Education for students in grades 4 to 10. The course explores ministry curriculum, lesson design and planning, pedagogy, assessment and evaluation, and research in light of contemporary educational theory and practice. This course is open only to students in the Master of Teaching program.

  • Appointment percentage: 33.33 %
  • Salary:
    As of September 1 2026, the minimum stipend is $9,972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half‑credit course. As of January 1 2027, the minimum stipend is $9,972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half‑credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Currency and mastery in the course subject matter.
  • Excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant.
  • Evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher‑candidates' professional learning.
  • Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, organize, and teach this graduate course.
  • Be available to students seeking assistance between classes.
  • Evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.
  • Attend a pre‑course planning/pre‑paration meeting with the course instructional team.
  • Attend MT All‑Instructor Meetings (AIM) and submit course syllabus as requested by the department.
