This position seeks a sessional lecturer to teach the course NEW
495Y1Y – Community Engaged Learning:
Critical and Creative Perspectives on the Non‑Profit Sector from September 1, 2026 to May 6, 2027. The role is in‑person and may adapt to changing circumstances.
- Enrolment estimate: 27 students
- Estimated TA support: 60 hours
- Lecture schedule:
Wednesday 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sessional Lecturer I: $19,994.95 per academic year (standard). Long‑term equivalents range from $21,398.43 to $22,457.80 depending on experience.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and deliver course content; administer and grade assignments, tests and exams; calculate and submit grades; hold regular office hours; facilitate critical reflection by connecting theory to students’ community work; coordinate with the CEL coordinator on assignments, seminars, guest speakers, field trips and workshops.
Minimum Qualifications- Completed or near completion of a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a related field.
- Academic background in social justice education; familiarity with innovative, anti‑oppressive, community‑facing pedagogies.
- Research/teaching experience in at least one of the following: critical pedagogy, community‑based participatory research, political economy, social movement histories, or the study of power, state violence and capital.
- Experience teaching equity and social justice issues in a university setting.
- Track record guiding diverse student cohorts through off‑campus placements, action research, and community‑led projects.
