Position: Sessional Lecturer - BPM332H1S - Buddhism and Psychotherapy

Course Description

BPM
332H1S – Buddhism and Psychotherapy is a multi‑cultural and interdisciplinary study of therapeutically‑oriented practices and theories of the mind. Areas considered include positive psychology, psychoanalysis, cognitive‑behavioural therapy, mindfulness meditation, and Jungian psychology, with comparison to various Buddhist teachings and practices. The course will be delivered in an in‑person format, though delivery may change as deemed necessary by the Faculty or Department.

Monday 5:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

Enrolment Estimate: 100 students | Estimated TA Support: 165 hours.

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47
  • Sessional Lecturer I (Long‑term): $10,699.21
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21
  • Sessional Lecturer II (Long‑term): $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III (Long‑term): $11,228.90
Minimum Qualifications

Completed or nearly completed Ph.D. with a scholarly background in an area related to Buddhist Studies, Mindfulness, and/or the intersections between Buddhism and Psychology and/or philosophical theories of mind. Teaching experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in a university setting is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Design and teach a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content.
  • Develop, administer and mark assignments, tests and exams.
  • Calculate and submit grades.
  • Hold regular office hours.
