Course Description

This course is designed to introduce graduate students in the Health Sciences to Biostatistics, focusing on topics and applications relevant to Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. Students will learn fundamental concepts of biostatistical methods—including data types, descriptive statistics, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, correlation, linear regression, and analysis of variance—and apply these concepts to real research problems using R software. Tutorials on R will be provided.

TA support: 1 TA (70 hours)

Class contact time: 36 hours (to be confirmed)

Qualifications
  • PhD with academic teaching experience.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials.
  • Prepare, administer, and mark assessments of students.
  • Provide reasonable hours for student contact outside scheduled contact hours.
