Description:

The MScAc degree is intended to create technical leaders capable of transferring new ideas and technologies from academia to industry. Companies seeking to develop innovative solutions to technology‑related problems face a critical need for technically sophisticated professionals who are aware of advanced research ideas and can identify commercial opportunities for such ideas. These individuals will provide the conduit between university research and the world of industry, offering substantial benefits of both.

A maximum of four sections. LEC
5101 biweekly on Wednesdays 6:00‑9:00 pm; LEC
5201 biweekly on Wednesdays 6:00‑9:00 pm; LEC
5301 biweekly on Thursdays, 6:00‑9:00 pm; LEC
5401 bi‑weekly on Thursdays, 6:00‑9:00 pm. Each lecture section will have three tutorial sections assigned to it.

Delivery method is currently hybrid and may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department. The number of sections may be reduced to three, depending on the confirmed number of students registered for the Fall semester.

Sessional Dates of Appointment: Fall session (September 1 – December 31 2026); however this appointment is only for November 1 – December 15 2026.

Salary: $3,000 per module (per section). Each module is equivalent to a 0.1 FCE load. Salary is inclusive of vacation pay. If rates in the collective agreement differ, the agreement rates prevail.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related STEM field.
• Extensive experience of career coaching of students with advanced backgrounds in STEM disciplines.
• Superior communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Evidence of teaching communication methods, including writing, public speaking and interpersonal communications to students with advanced backgrounds in STEM subjects.

• Evidence of teaching excellence.

• Plan lectures, tutorials, assignments, tests, and marking schemes for the module.
• Maintain a module website.
• Deliver module material in lectures and tutorials.
• Provide contact time outside class to students via office hours, email, the module website, and/or the e‑bulletin board.
• Assist with preparing the breakdown of TA hours and supervise TA(s) (if applicable).
• Manage assessment of the module and invigilate the final exam (if applicable).
• Submit and release module grades in a timely manner, providing feedback throughout the term.

Instructors must follow basic content and style used by regular faculty and obtain approval from faculty or the Academic Director of Professional Programs for substantial changes to content or assessment methods. Instructors will also consult with the MScAC Program team for syllabus, assignments, tests, and final exam creation.
