Description:
This half‑course gives students experience solving a substantial problem that may span several areas of Computer Science. Students will define the scope of the problem, develop a solution plan, produce a working implementation, and present their work using written, oral, and (if suitable) video reports. Class time will focus on the project, but may include some lectures. The class will be small and highly interactive.
Project themes change each year. Contact the Computer Science Undergraduate Office for information about this year’s topic themes, required preparation, and course enrollment procedures.
Estimated Enrollment: 45 students per section
Estimated TA Support: one 60‑hour TA position

Salary- Sessional Lecturer I: $14,381.00
- Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term: $16,080.00
- Sessional Lecturer II: $16,080.00
- Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term: $17,212.00
- Sessional Lecturer III: $17,212.00
- Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term: $17,755.00
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in the topic area of the course.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Teaching experience at the university level or equivalent industry level.
- Previous experience teaching undergraduate Computer Science courses.
- Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.
- Experience leading companies and organizations within the technology sector.
- Experience building long‑term partnerships between academic and industry organizations.
- Prepare and deliver the scheduled in‑person lectures.
- Administer course functions: maintain the course website on Quercus, develop marking schemes and the syllabus, plan tutorial content (when applicable), and design course assessments including assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, and final exams.
- Provide student contact time outside of class through office hours, email, the course website, and/or the course bulletin board.
- Prepare the breakdown of hours for TA duties and supervise the TAs.
- Ensure that tutorials and/or labs are delivered appropriately by the TAs as applicable.
- Manage course grading, largely conducted by the TAs, and complete any grading not handled by the TAs.
- Invigilate term tests and the final exam when applicable.
- Manage the timely completion, release, and feedback of grades, and submit final course grades by the due date.
