Students are expected to apply the insights, skills and techniques acquired during the first year of study to a number of case studies and assignments drawn from different planning contexts. As in a professional office, students will work in teams to obtain experience in cooperative action and in the management of time and effort. Projects will be selected in order to expose students to the complexity of real problems, and to suggest the range of policy and planning issues which students might encounter after graduation.

Senior practitioners in the Toronto region also work with students in the Workshop.

This posting is for one (1) 0.25 FCE position to co‑teach this course with Dr. Tyeshia Redden.

A graduate‑level professional degree in planning is required, as well as a minimum of five years of professional planning experience in the public or private sectors. Candidates must also possess suitable background knowledge of, and considerable experience dealing with, core planning activities such as land use planning, urban design, community consultation, community development, cultural planning, and sustainability.

Previous university‑level teaching experience is preferred. Previous experience teaching workshop courses preferred. Professional planning designation preferred (e.g. RPP).

Lectures on planning practice. Identifying appropriate client advisors and projects and working with clients to develop projects. Preparing course outline, syllabi and lectures; marking course assignments; obtaining approval for course ethics protocol; arranging meetings with clients; organizing and attending student presentations; and holding regular office hours. This course will be co‑taught with Dr. Tyeshia Redden.
