3718HS – Selected Topics in Architecture. Elective - stream/number to be decided.

Course description

This course is an introduction to wood and its uses in architecture. It will be a hands‑on investigation into wood‑working techniques across scales, from furniture, small timber construction, to mass timber construction. The mode of learning will be primarily shop-based, with elements of small class lecture and group discussion. Students will learn techniques of cutting, shaping, lamination, joining, and finishing with lumber.

Students will also learn how to draw fabrication and shop drawings.

  • Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,228.90

All inclusive of vacation pay;

Minimum Qualifications

M.Arch degree or

B.Arch degree in Architecture preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Academic and professional expertise in the field of Architecture and Woodworking.

Description of duties

Attending meetings required by program director; preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions and student contact hours.
