Course description

This seminar engages the skills of ‘Branding’ to address issues of climate action. Many NGOs, national and global climate organizations are leaders of the climate movement through “brands.” At the core of this class is to explore the power of storytelling and branding to influence perspectives and behavior in climate action. Students will study frameworks for understanding and building brands, how storytelling impacts perception and galvanizes action, and the history of the environmental movement.

The class will undertake collective research and speculative design to create an impactful Climate Action Brand.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor or Graduate degree in Design or Fine Arts.

Preferred Qualifications

Academic and professional expertise in the field of Advertisement and Branding.

Description of duties

Attending meetings required by program director; preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions and student contact hours.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
