Description
RAM Aviation, Space & Defense is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we’ve supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah’s largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing.
From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here!
As a Calibration Technician
, you are the guardian of accuracy for our manufacturing operations. You ensure that "an inch is an inch" and "a volt is a volt." In this role, you will manage the heartbeat of our Quality System—our Inspection, Measurement, and Test Equipment (IM&TE). You will perform hands‑on calibration across a diverse range of disciplines, from dimensional micrometers to complex electronic oscilloscopes to ensuring full traceability to NIST standards.
If you are a stickler for detail, an organized problem solver, and someone who takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of precision, we want you to ensure our tools are mission‑ready.
- Hands‑On Calibration:
Perform calibration and testing on a wide variety of manufacturing and process control equipment. This includes: - Dimensional:
Calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, thread plugs/rings. - Electrical:
Digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, milliohm meters. - Physical/Thermal:
Pressure gauges, transducers, thermocouples, and pyrometry equipment. - System Management:
Manage the calibration database to schedule and track thousands of assets. You are responsible for generating status reports and coordinating with production leads to recall tools before they go overdue, minimizing production downtime. - Vendor Coordination:
Manage the relationship with third‑party calibration labs for specialized off‑site testing. You will review and approve their calibration certificates to ensure they meet RAM’s strict quality standards. - Traceability & Compliance:
Maintain the calibration system with unbroken traceability to NIST standards. You ensure all records comply with AS9100 regulations and internal procedures. - Out of Tolerance (OOT) Management:
When a tool fails calibration, you don't just tag it; you investigate. You will issue Out of Tolerance notifications and work with Quality/Engineering to determine if the failed tool impacted any product quality. - Technical Resource:
Act as the subject matter expert for measurement. You will assist engineers in selecting the right gauges for new products, help troubleshoot measurement discrepancies, and provide training to other technicians on proper gauge handling. - Inventory & Repair: specific gauge requests for standard and custom tooling. You will also maintain an inventory of spare parts and coordinate repairs for broken equipment.
- Legal:
Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements). - Experience:
3+ years of experience in Metrology or Calibration. Experience with PMEL (Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory) training in the military is a significant plus. - Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Metrology principles, NIST traceability, and calibration standards (ANSI/NCSL Z540, ISO 17025). - Equipment Proficiency:
Demonstrated ability to calibrate and troubleshoot varied equipment types (Electronics, Dimensional, Pressure, and Temperature). - Organization:
Superior attention to detail. You must be able to manage a complex schedule and maintain impeccable records. - Education:
Associate’s degree in a technical field (Electronics, Engineering Technology) or equivalent professional experience. - Computer
Skills:
Proficiency with Calibration Management Software (CMS)…
