We are seeking a highly experienced and self-sufficient Civil Engineer (PE) to support residential land development projects. This role requires a licensed Professional Engineer with deep expertise in residential site planning, grading and drainage design , and the ability to independently take projects from concept through approval. The successful candidate must be capable of exercising responsible charge, stamping their own work , and operating with minimal oversight.
This position is best suited for a hands-on engineer who brings full technical competency from day one. On-the-job training is not available.
Required Qualifications
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona and Utah (in good standing).
- Extensive experience preparing residential site plans , including grading and drainage plans and drainage reports .
- Demonstrated ability to take responsible charge and serve as Engineer of Record .
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D , including the ability to import, configure, and manage all required settings, templates, and customizations independently .
- Experience utilizing GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS) and hydrologic/hydraulic software such as HEC and SWMM .
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong technical writing skills for reports, proposals, and final project documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Prepare, review, and approve residential civil engineering site plans .
- Develop grading and drainage plans and reports in compliance with local and state regulations.
- Serve as Engineer of Record and stamp completed engineering work.
- Maintain responsible charge over assigned projects from design through completion.
- Coordinate work between engineers, drafters, and support staff as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable municipal, state, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with clients, permitting agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage schedules and support on-time project delivery.
- Salary: $75,000 - $124,000 annually (based on experience)
