Position Announcement
Provides fiscal resource management and financial planning services to the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology (CSET). Under the direction of the CSET dean, this includes overseeing all aspects of the college's accounting and accounting reports by working closely with the dean and department chairs to ensure optimal allocation and utilization of college and departmental resources. Under the guidance of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) director, this also includes overseeing post-award financial activity of all externally-funded projects and activities (grants/contracts) of CSET principal investigators (PIs)/project directors (PDs) to ensure compliance with applicable university policy, federal and state laws and regulations, and external sponsor guidelines.
ResponsibilitiesCSET Fiscal Resource Management and Financial Planning (75%)
- Design and maintain a comprehensive Academic Year Plan (AYP) for monitoring faculty workload targets, non-instructional workload, and non-CSET workload by adapting and merging data available through the University's current data programs and software.
- Work with CSET dean, department chairs, program directors, and administrative assistants to prepare an annual financial budget for each department/program.
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial budget reports to monitor the college's use of financial resources.
- Advise CSET dean on budget allocations, fiscal issues, trends, concerns, and opportunities.
- Work with CSET dean and dean's office personnel on special projects and assignments in support of CSET.
- Assist and support the Office of Sponsored Programs and Business Services Office during fiscal year end to ensure proper expense allocation for financial audits of the institution's accounting systems.
CSET Grant/Contract Post-Award Financial Support (20%)
- Work with PIs to ensure administrative compliance with post-award grant and contract activities to ensure timely submission of sponsored projects reporting and invoicing requirements in accordance to agency guidelines.
- Possess strong knowledge and expertise in policies and best practices for managing federal grants, non-federal grants, and contracts in higher education as outlined in university policies and procedures as well as federal mandates.
- Gather data and analyze information to assist in recommendations and optimization of appropriate use of funding sources.
- Monitor expenses to ensure compliance with sponsoring agencies' regulations; track balances, conduct variance analysis, and project burn rates for future utilization of sponsor funding.
- Financial monitoring and reporting of grant budgets, indirect costs, salary allocations, and reconciliation of accounts.
Perform other duties as assigned (5%).
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, or related field;
Master's degree preferred. - Two years of work experience in accounting required; grant experience in higher education preferred.
- General knowledge of budgeting theory and practices preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance regulations pertaining to grants preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), or similar applications.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities; excellent written, verbal, problem solving and communication skills; in-depth working knowledge of computerized accounting systems; demonstrated track record as a team player.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP system preferred.
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $51,000-$56,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of April/May 2026.
