• Ensures proper patient identification and order verification; prepares patients for exams.
• Performs MRI examinations per department protocol.
• Demonstrates competency in cross-sectional anatomy and anatomical positioning.
• Critiques own images to ensure quality.
• Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care.
• Selects appropriate scanning techniques and protocols in coordination with the radiologist.
• Administers IV contrast (Gadolinium) under physician/radiologist supervision.
• Practices proper infection control and sterile techniques.
• Operates MRI equipment and related information systems to produce quality images.
• Views, transfers, archives, and manipulates images electronically.
• Troubleshoots MRI scanner issues and understands startup/shutdown procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of magnet systems, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and related hardware/software.
• Understands and follows Quench procedures and MRI safety policies (Four Zone concept).
• Maintains accurate documentation, time stamps, and image storage.
• Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consent documentation, QC (ACR standards), and equipment reporting.

• ARRT – RT (R)(MR) – Required
• ARRT – RT (MR) – Required
• Utah State License – NOT required if ARRT is active
• BLS (AHA) – Required
