Direct Care Associate - Day Program

position overview

redhead supports is hiring enthusiastic, dedicated day program support staff to work alongside children and adults with disabilities and/or mental health needs in our day program setting. We support individuals with challenging behaviors and we are looking to train you to be:

• able to stay calm and avoid power struggles
• willing and physically able to assist clients use the restroom and stay safe
• show empathy when a client is overwhelmed
• cheer them on as they take steps forward!
• be thick skinned
• and above all have fun and be active in the community
• proficient in redirecting, de-escalating situations and handle problem behaviors.

schedule

monday – friday | 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

responsibilities

• support individuals in daily program activities including life skills, recreational programming, and community outings
• implement individualized support plans and behavioral support plans as written
• assist with personal care needs as required, including hygiene, meals, and mobility
• administer medications and document accurately per agency policy
• monitor and document behavior, participation, and progress
• facilitate engaging, meaningful activities that promote independence and community inclusion
• transport individuals to and from community activities as needed
• maintain a safe, positive, and structured program environment
• collaborate with team members, supervisors, and families to ensure consistent support
• complete all required documentation accurately and on time

qualifications

• high school diploma or ged required
• must be 18 years of age or older
• experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health needs preferred
• valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
• ability to pass a background check
• cpr/first aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with physical transfers as needed
