Custodian 2 (Part time) - St. George UT Temple
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑Saints invites applications for this position. The purpose of this role is to seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion. This intermediate, individual‑contributor position focuses on maintaining safe and efficient environments through cleanliness, sanitation, and order. The custodian may also assist with grounds, special events, or other manual labor duties.
ResponsibilitiesDuties may include:
- Clean offices, restrooms, public areas, etc. including fixtures such as sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, mirrors, air vents, furniture, equipment, window sills, walls.
- Operate mechanized cleaning equipment – vacuums, polishers, buffers, large scrubbers, sweepers, power washers, extraction equipment.
- Operate balers, shredders, aerial lifts and forklifts.
- Window and building exterior cleaning.
- Clean carpets, rugs, upholstery and drapes.
- Sanitize areas, furnishings or fixtures as instructed.
- Wet or damp mop floors.
- Dust or polish furnishings, light fixtures, window sills, wood paneling.
- Dispose of trash, waste, and other materials.
- Perform emergency clean‑ups including floods, bodily fluids, spills.
- Restock supplies.
- Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment.
- Remove leaves or snow.
- On‑call responsibilities may be required.
- May be assigned to executive VIP responsibilities.
- Report safety or security issues and needed repairs.
- Perform other duties and attend meetings as assigned.
Complexity – Moderately complex work.
Autonomy – Work under general supervision while handling moderately complex issues, referring more complicated matters to higher‑level staff.
Leadership or supervision – Individual contributor, may provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to others.
Environment – May require working in damp, dusty, and/or dirty areas; use of cleaning solvents and chemicals.
Required Qualifications- Certification in use of equipment such as sweepers, buffers, lifts, carpet cleaning machinery, high‑rise power washers.
- Ability to understand basic instructions, complete tasks, handle basic issues.
- Ability to lift and position objects up to 50 pounds independently; team lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, stooping, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, repetitive movements.
- Capability to work from ladders, scaffolds, mechanical lifts.
- Experience with commercial‑grade cleaners and chemicals.
- Professional manner working with others or alone without constant supervision.
- Positive attitude and ability to work as a team.
- English comprehension for general communication, video training, building security, safety.
- Capability to understand verbal and written instructions and request clarifications.
- Compliance with all regulations governing chemical handling.
- Two years related experience in related work.
- Experience with project work or executive cleaning.
- Ability to work outside in all seasons, temperatures, weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pass a criminal background check.
