RAM Aviation, Space & Defense

RAM Aviation, Space & Defense is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we’ve supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission‑critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah’s largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high‑skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing.

From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here!

Cleanroom Assembly Technician

As a Cleanroom Assembly Technician, you are the hands that build our most critical hardware. Working inside our controlled ISO‑certified cleanroom, you will assemble, test, and package electromechanical devices like solenoids and valves that are destined for spaceflight. This role requires a steady hand, a sharp eye, and a commitment to perfection. You won’t just be following instructions; you will be mastering strict contamination control protocols to ensure that not even a speck of dust compromises the mission.

If you take pride in precision work and enjoy a quiet, focused, and immaculate work environment, we want you on our team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Precision Assembly: Assemble complex electromechanical products (solenoids, valves) using microscopes, tweezers, and small hand tools. You will follow detailed Work Instructions and drawings to the letter.
  • Cleanroom Protocol: Adhere strictly to cleanroom standards. This includes wearing full cleanroom attire (gown, hood, booties, gloves, mask) and following Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention protocols.
  • Testing & Verification: Perform functional testing on completed units to ensure they meet engineering specifications. You will use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers) to verify tolerances.
  • Documentation: “If it isn’t written down, it didn’t happen.” You will complete assembly logs and test documentation with 100% accuracy to ensure full traceability for our aerospace customers.
  • Collaboration & Training: Work closely with Design Engineering to provide feedback on new products. You may also be asked to demonstrate assembly processes during customer site visits or audits.
  • Quality First: You are the first line of defense for quality. You are empowered to “stop the line” and report any problems with materials, processes, or equipment to your supervisor immediately.
  • Maintenance: Maintain a pristine workspace. You will clean products and equipment regularly to facilitate a contaminant‑free manufacturing environment.
Requirements
  • Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
  • Dexterity: Superior manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination. You must be comfortable handling very small parts (often under a microscope) for extended periods.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and complex written instructions.
  • Cleanroom Readiness: Willingness to work in a controlled environment. This means adhering to dress codes (no makeup, jewelry, or perfumes) and wearing protective cleanroom gear (the “Bunny Suit”) for the duration of the shift.
  • Measurement

    Skills:

Proficiency with basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, multimeters) is preferred.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly with engineers and auditors. You must be comfortable demonstrating your work process to others.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in electronics assembly, medical device manufacturing, or fine‑detail craftwork is a major plus.
