Position OverviewThe Crusher Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of crushing and screening equipment used in aggregate production operations. This role is critical to ensuring maximum equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and safe production of high‑quality materials. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety‑focused, and experienced in working with heavy equipment in a mining or aggregate environment.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions) Equipment Maintenance & Repair- Perform routine preventative maintenance on crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and associated equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform timely repairs
- Replace wear parts including liners, belts, bearings, rollers, and screens
- Conduct daily and periodic inspections to identify potential equipment failures
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection logs
- Follow all company safety policies and MSHA regulations
- Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses
- Ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed during maintenance activities
- Work closely with plant operators and supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities
- Assist with plant startups, shutdowns, and changeovers
- Monitor equipment performance and make recommendations for improvements
- Perform basic to advanced welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed for equipment repair
- Assist with modifications to improve equipment efficiency and longevity
- Assist in identifying and ordering replacement parts and maintaining appropriate inventory levels
- Track usage of wear parts and recommend stocking levels
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance practices, reduce downtime, and enhance safety
- Support plant efficiency and cost‑control initiatives
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3‑5+ years of experience in crusher maintenance, aggregate operations, mining, or heavy equipment repair preferred
- Prior experience with crushing and screening equipment (e.g., jaw, cone, impact crushers) strongly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Experience with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and bearings
- Welding and fabrication skills preferred
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS systems is a plus
The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anything up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
WorkEnvironment
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
