Position Overview

The Crusher Laborer is responsible for safely performing a variety of construction duties to assist highway, utility, grade crews or at various on‑site plant locations. This position involves manual tasks performed under a supervisor’s instruction and independent operation on more complex jobs.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)
  • Rotates to various crusher locations throughout the Intermountain States Area. 50% travel.
  • Performs machinery maintenance and repairs: unplugs, shovels off conveyors and screens; changes screens, rollers, cone liners; repairs conveyor problems; greases moving machine parts.
  • Sets up and takes down crusher machinery, including running cables and hoses, setting up blocks, assembling/disassembling machinery, operating skid steer, tarping, shoveling aggregate.
  • Helps maintain crusher operation.
  • Keeps crusher machinery area clean of debris and shovels aggregate.
  • Operates equipment such as skid steer (loader if trained) to move excess materials.
  • Uses hand and power tools.
  • Picks up and delivers construction materials at job‑site locations.
  • Performs job‑site clean‑up.
  • Assists with flagging and traffic control as needed.
  • Maintains all tools and equipment in safe and clean condition.
  • Perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to do basic math.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Certifications
  • Standard Driver’s License is required.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. Frequently required to sit, climb, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders. Occasionally required to lift and/or move from 10 to 50 lbs. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and/or heat. Noise level usually moderate to loud.
